New GDC online registration service launches on 25 March
The General Dental Council (GDC) has announced that MyGDC, its new online registration service, will launch on 25 March 2026, replacing the current eGDC system.
The new platform is designed to enhance the registration process and make it easier for dental professionals to apply for and manage their registration. This will be particularly relevant for dental nurses who have recently completed their training, including NEBDN Learners who passed the January OSCE exam and are preparing to apply for GDC registration.
MyGDC will allow applicants to complete their registration application fully online. Users will be able to upload supporting documents securely, verify their identity using facial recognition technology, and track the progress of their application in real time. This removes the need to send documents by post and aims to make the process quicker and more straightforward.
Once registered, dental professionals will also be able to use MyGDC to manage their registration, including paying their Annual Retention Fee, completing their annual renewal and submitting their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours.
Theresa Thorp, Executive Director of Regulation at the GDC, said:
“Joining the register is a significant moment in every dental professional’s career. MyGDC gives applicants and dental professionals a faster, user-friendly and more transparent and accessible way to interact with us. This is part of our wider commitment in our 2026-2028 strategy to ensure our registration processes are efficient and effective.”
Kate Kerslake, CEO of NEBDN, also welcomed the introduction of the new system, saying:
“We welcome the launch of MyGDC as a positive step forward in enhancing the registration process for dental professionals. For NEBDN Learners progressing into registration, we hope this new system will provide a smoother, more streamlined experience when applying to join the register and when managing their CPD submissions throughout their career.”
From 25 March 2026, all new applications should be submitted through MyGDC. Applicants who started their registration using eGDC on or before 24 March 2026 should submit their supporting documents within three months of their application date. If the application is not completed within that timeframe, a new application will need to be submitted through MyGDC.
