End-Point Assessment journey for Learners

What is End-Point Assessment?

End-Point Assessment (EPA) is a final assessment for the Learner to demonstrate competence for the role and, in the case of the Dental Nurse Integrated Apprenticeship, the assessment to demonstrate the knowledge skills and behaviours of a safe practitioner. As part of the EPA service, NEBDN uses a software called Maxinity. Learners must also be able to access a quiet room in line with examination conduct for the EPA.

EPAs are taken remotely using zoom software. Zoom software must be enabled on Employer or Provider’s software, prior to the assessment and tested in line with the EPA Assessment Pack.

End-Point Assessment queries

What support will I be given from Gateway through to certification?

From Gateway through to Certification you will have support from the following:

  1. Provider
  2. Employer
  3. NEBDN Assessor

To be eligible for Gateway the Provider, Employer and Learner must all be in agreement that the Learner has completed the following requirements:

  • Fully completed and competent Portfolio
  • Level 2 Maths and English achieved
  • Successful completion of the Knowledge Test
  • Signed agreement from the Provider, Employer and Learner

All three parties must agree that the Learner has completed their learning of all the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours required within the programme. You can then  apply for Gateway via the Gateway section of the Booking Form.

Should you have any questions during this period you will be required to contact your Provider directly.

End-Point Assessment service

What are the expectations of the Learner during End-Point Assessment?

For the Structured Clinical Assessment, you will be expected to have the following:

  • A quiet room, free from distractions
  • No other individuals present in the room
  • Blank paper and a pen
  • Laptop/ PC
  • Inbuilt or external camera
  • Inbuilt or external microphone
  • Photographic form of ID
  • No Mobile phone at commencement of EPA

TheHub is our central platform for all Providers to input and submit key information such as:

  • Provider & Learner details

  • Submit Qualification Feedback
