Julie Byrom

Julie started her career as a Dental Nurse in 1986 where she achieved her National Diploma for Dental Surgery Assistants. She graduated as a Dental Hygienist from Birmingham Dental Hospital in 1988.

As a Dental Hygienist she has gained valuable experience in the Community Dental Service in West Yorkshire treating vulnerable children and adults. She gained additional knowledge in treating oral and maxillofacial surgery patients at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield. Julie has experience in both NHS and private dental practices.

Julie also achieved a Diploma in Dental Health Education and tutored Dental Nurses for ten years, in two different centres, for their NEBDN examinations. She was also appointed as an Examiner with NEBDN and has done this for two years.

Julie serves as a Fitness to Practice Panel Member with the General Dental Council, she has been doing this role for five years.

She has recently been appointed as the Independent Standards Person for Warrington and Hampshire Councils. She is also a panellist on the Conduct committee for the National Register of Public Service Interpreters.

Julie enjoys spending time with her four children and the latest additional family member a Border Collie puppy has rekindled her appetite for walking – lots!
